We love Cascara!!! Cascara Coffee Cherry Tea over ice is something we've been enjoying all summer. It's made from the fleshy part of the coffee cherry (mostly the dried skin) and rarely produced for export. It's popular in many coffee growing regions and has a somewhat sweet cherry flavor. This particular cascara hails from Las Lajas, an organic micromill in the Central Valley region of Costa Rica.
We use between a 1 and 1.5 grams per ounce and steep for around 4 minutes. You can steep it for longer and it yields an even stronger fruity flavor without ever producing off flavors.
... and Yes! it has caffeine.
